International Day of Peace was recognised this week. If you find yourself anxious and worried, try these tips:

    • Unplug
Unless you are pro-active against busyness, the daily grind will steal your peace. Take a few minutes every day to sit and do nothing. Close your eyes.
    • Breathe deeply
Meditate on the good in your life. Enjoy the silence.
    • Roll with it
Don’t sweat the small stuff. Little annoyances in your day will happen, but you have a choice. Will you get stressed out over every little thing that doesn’t go your way? Or will you choose to step back, take a deep breath, and see the big picture?
    • Forgive easy
Let go of unrealistic expectations Free yourself from the approval of others.
Learn to say “no”. So be realistic in what you commit to. Every time you say “yes” to something, learn to say “no” to something else.
    • Seize the moment
Pursue what you’re passionate about today. Take responsibility for your decisions and schedule your time wisely. The decisions you make today will determine who you are tomorrow. So set goals and start running after them.
    • Find joy in little things
Rather than focusing on the negative things in your life, count your blessings. Simplify your life, and take time to invest in relationships. It’s worth it. Peace of mind or worry can be the defining reality in your life.
    • Peace
It doesn’t mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

We always have the choice to fall into worry mode or choose peace. Which one do you tend to lean towards?
